Membrane Technology
Subject Division and Working Party
Working Party Membrane Technology
The development of membrane technology is highly dependent on interdisciplinary cooperation on the core themes: materials development, chemistry and process engineering and the same holds for international cooperation. The Working Party is strongly committed to maintaining national scientific standards and supporting education and continuing training. Current research priorities are membrane development for separation problems in various branches, the theory of membrane processes, module development and particularly process development. As membrane technology is brought to market predominantly by small to medium-sized companies it is imperative to strengthen the innovation climate in Germany as a business location.

Subject Division Membrane TechnologyThe objective of the Membrane Technology Subject Division is to inform the specialist community about the latest R&D results and applications by holding events, to support young scientists, and to favourably influence the basic conditions for membrane technology. Today membrane processes are increasingly used in diverse areas of industrial production and the interfaces with other fields, such as chemical reaction engineering, biotechnology and process intensification, are correspondingly varied. Focal topics include the processing of renewable, synthetic and fossil energy sources, production-integrated water and waste water technology with the closing of process cycles and the separation of residual materials and resources.
