Biomedical Process Engineering
Working Group Biomedical Process Engineering
The temporary Working Group is engaged in extending classical process and chemical engineering towards biological processes. This logically includes biological processes in the human body ("man as a living bioreactor"). The main focus of our work is on:
- Mass, heat and impulse transport in biomedical issues and applications
- Simulation of biological systems
- Adaptive and remoulded control circuits
- Multiscale modeling
- Artificial organs in micro-bioreactors
- Drug delivery
- Tissue engineering (including new scaffold materials, surfaces and structuring, cell culture techniques, alternatives to animal experiments, quality management, biothermodynamics, cryobiology/cryotechnology)
