Fluid Separations

Subject Division

The Subject Division’s main field of activity encompasses processes in which at least one fluid phase is involved and which are driven by mass and heat transfer. The topics dealt with include thermal and fluid dynamic principles, process, plant and apparatus design, and the relevant modeling techniques.

Focal areas of interest:

  • Continuous development of standard operations, novel basic operations and new materials
  • Integrated, reactive and hybrid separation processes, separation of complex molecules
  • Novel measurement methods, scale-up and operation of separations
  • Multiphase flow and transfer processes in separation equipment
  • Development of methods, optimization, analysis and synthesis of mass transfer processes
